Silence is golden

Some days ago, I came across a group of mute  persons ordering food at a fast food restaurant.

Some were having a “heated” discussion, while the others went about ordering their meals.  What struck me most was the efficiency in communication between themselves.

That got me thinking… would mute people ever get into debates and turn violent (read fistfight)?  I would presume not.  Simply put, I think one can’t get into a fight if one can’t talk.

Personally, I think therein lies a lesson for all of us who can hear.  The world would be a better place if we choose to keep silent, when talking would just be adding oil to the flames of an argument.  It does make a strong case to “hold our tongue”, doesn’t it?
